Hi guys, Happy Friday!
Today’s topic is my need for womanly entertainment. It’s lacking. Seriously lacking. I am deeply grateful to all of the romcoms of the early 2000s who did their service and did it well, but the genre is essentially extinct now.
Every now and then, you hear of a movie being released that is very obviously pitched towards women, but it lacks that over-the-top, absolutely impossible love component… that let’s face it… we look for in a classic romantic comedy film.
I want the love-hate relationship, the goofy subplots, the adorable pets, and the final running to each other scene with a passionate kiss. It is dearly missed. I don’t know why. I think it’s because these movies were deemed bad and stereotypical previously that they just stopped generating money or something along those lines. I liked them, though. How easily the movie flowed and how predictable they were so you could walk up and get a snack or sweep with the movie in the background while not losing any major plot.
I hope they bring at least one back. I know some other ladies would also like to see a romantic comedy again. They should totally advertise like they used to as well. And it’s not just because of the romantic part either, I think 20 somethings would benefit from seeing a romantic comedy that also acts as a coming of age movie. Maybe not coming of age, but acceptance of age and that not having things figured out at 25 is perfectly fine.
That is my pitch. Nothing serious, ha. I am obviously not a movie producer, writer, or anything of that sort so what do I know. I’ll stick to rewatching the classics. I’ll sprinkle in the Disney princess movies as well. Those are great, too.
