Hello friends!
I was aiming to post twice this month, but I was traveling during one week this month so that didn’t turn out.
This month was sad and a little pathetic in terms of reading for me. Way different from last month. I read a total of two books, but I’ll use the extra space to share some books I’m *fingers crossed* going to read in October.
Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors

It took me forever to start and finish this book. The Pinterest girly in me loved, and was drawn in by the book cover, so I did have it sitting in my TBR.
It was fine. This is the phrase I use for books that I will more than likely forget. This book does switch between character’s POVs, the three Blue sisters. That format has never bothered me, but just a heads up for those who may not enjoy it as much. Although we switch between characters, the main focus, in my opinion is Avery Blue, the oldest of the three siblings.
The book takes place a year after a tragedy (I try my bestest to never spoil deets for y’all). We see how all the sisters are coping and while sad it also seems cliché? I don’t know how to explain it really, because it wasn’t due to bad writing and the plot sounds interesting. If it were a movie, we would all know it was Oscar baity. That is the best way I can describe it.
While the book was meant to focus on the sisters, I actually think it was such a missed opportunity to not give more time to the mom in this book. Now, the mother in this book is flawed, and I didn’t need her to be redeemed. I just think it would have been worth exploring further. We really only see an interaction of her with one child in this book.
I did like the ending. It was realistic. I think this is a point of debate for people that have read the book. The book starts with dropping you in the middle of these sister’s lives and then picks you up to see a snapshot later on, after certain events. To me, this aligns with the themes/style of the book. I didn’t need it wrapped neatly with happy endings and a “the end”, it would not have made sense.
Overall, 3.5.
The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Miguel Ruiz

Yes, I did read this. Do I feel like my life has been transformed? No.
I thought I would love this book by the way it has been described by others. It was underwhelming. There are 4 agreements, duh. The main ones that resonated with me are don’t take anything personally and don’t make assumptions (#2 and #3, I believe). I have such a hard time with both of these things, that I have been reflecting all week and telling myself to not make assumptions throughout the day. Almost as if I were manifesting.
I may read it again at a later point in my life, but these agreements have been regurgitated by different people/mediums that I am sure you can find similar messages wherever you look.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciated the book. Solid 3.
So those were my sad little books for the month. I am currently reading two other books, but I doubt I’ll finish them before October 1st. Which is totally fine, by the way!
So what do I have lined up? I am currently reading the following two books:
- Show Don’t Tell
- The Winds of War
As I have a little squirrel brain, one is on kindle and the other is an audiobook. I like to read more than one book at a time because I get tired of sitting down or not moving and want to switch it up.

I did move some books around for my October TBR.
- The Vegetarian
- Expiration Dates
- Short Stay in Hell (This is my book club’s pick for the month. Sarcastic yay!!)
Let’s see which ones make the cut for the end of the month post.
That’s all, folks!
