New Year Update + Reading Wrap-Up for 2025

Hello, friends. 🙂

I hope you are all super well. Happy 2026! I know we’re like two weeks into the year, MY BAD. Since y’all haven’t heard from me in a bit, the Happy New Year is still allowed.

Since my last post in November, things have been all over the place. Life has been good, bad, and definitely chaotic. I am trying to roll with the punches, but I’m already tired. A friend mentioned that this year was going to be great for Capricorns (surprise, I am a Cap), and I am excited to see if that is even close to true.

It is too late to do a full recap of December, but there was a lot of celebrating. On top of holidays, I had a birthday and my parents got married! Really, they renewed their vows, but still. For this January, my big goal is to move. I’ll tell you more about that once I’m done with the whole effort.

OK, so now that I’ve justified my absence, let’s get to books. My book goal on Goodreads was marked as 30 in 2025, but for some reason I decided to up it to 50 books. I read 12 books from November to December. Pretty good if I say so myself.

As always, I’m going to list out the books I read along with my rating. For this first post, since I was away for a few months, and there are more books than usual, I suggest checking my Goodreads profile for any comments.

Mr Salary by Sally Rooney

Rating: 4 out of 5.

In Bruges: A Screenplay by Martin McDonagh

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Rating: 4 out of 5.

& that’s 12!

The books that I enjoyed the most during this sprint were Before We Were Yours, In Bruges, and The Story of a New Name. If you take anything from this list, I would say to start with those three. The Story of a New Name is the second book of a series, though. Honorable mention to Animal Farm as I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.

For 2025, only 3 books got a 5-star rating from me:

  1. Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld
  2. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
  3. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Here’s to more reading in 2026! My tentative goal is to read 55 books for the year. Thank you for your time, patience, and willingness to tune in to my silly posts.
